MY ROOTS ARE MY INSPIRATION
Finalistas concurso internacional "Inspiration Hotel" convocado por OPENGAP
MIDDLE- EASTERN ARTISTS TODAY- CONFLICTS, EXILE AND INMIGRATION
The conflicts risen in the middle-east have degradedthe countries and cities that once housed numerous inspirational hotels, now abandoned ruins. The project is contextualized in an uncertain future, when wars have ended and cities are capable of resilience.
INSPIRATIONAL HOTEL- FEMINISM AND ART AS A REACTIVING TOOL
Based on the "Trümmenfrauen", a collective of women whom reconstructed Berlin, we propose Muslim female artists as the nuclei to regenerate the ruins of Baghdad, recreating and creating inspirational hotels for the use of artists and citizens relying on seven archetypal principles that describe contemporary female artists.
STREET- COURTYARDS- ROOFTOPS- LIVING SPACES
Public- Semipublic and private shelters
We chose archetypal regional elements as reactivating tools according to three levels of intervention- Private shelters (interior), Semipublic shelters (courtyards and rooftops) and Public shelters (streets and squares).
The project therefore is an inspirational hotel that doesn't solely complement beautiful landscapes, but rather rescues degraded urban weaves as a starting point.
To paraphrase Michelangelo; " Every ruin has opportunities inside and it is the task of the artists to discover it" transforming our ruins into the beauty of a city that was, and will be.
